Family Court Services
Family Court Services unit of Calumet County may serve any parent whose legal case is filed in Calumet County. Parents may be in the process of divorce, already divorced or never married; however share children. Family Court Services provides assistance in establishing a parenting plan that promotes a positive resolution and cooperative parenting. It is the philosophy that parents have the capacity and responsibility to determine what is in the best interest of their children.
Family Court Services also offers opportunity for divorcing parents to meet co-parenting program requirements ordered by the court.
Mediation is a process that assists parents who are having disputes regarding custody and placement of their minor children. Participants will work with a trained, professional mediator in a problem solving process to identify disputed issues, clarify needs and reach agreements that are in the best interests of all family members.
The mediator will assist with effective communication to encourage parents to work towards cooperative parental relationships in effort to establish healthy communication skills and positive co-parenting practices.
The mediator will assist parents with the development of a parenting plan that may include the following:
- Child Custody
- Child Placement
- Right of First Refusal
- Vacation Periods
- Child Care
- Permission to Move
Financial issues are not addressed.
Initial Fee: $320.00 ($160.00 each party) Fee waivers are available upon request.

Positive Co-Parenting Program
Parents Forever Program is a court ordered program for parents of minor children seeking a divorce. The Parents Forever Program assists parents in understanding and responding to the needs of children prior to, during and after family transition. Information and guidelines are provided on cooperative parenting, healthy communication, taking care of yourself and your children during this transition and strategies for keeping children "out of the middle."
The program is offered the third Tuesday of every month. The fee is $20.00 per parent and must be paid at the time of registration. Parents have the option of registering for the program together or separately if they so wish.
Chilton sessions are held at the Calumet County Courthouse located at 206 Court Street, Chilton, WI 53014.
Appleton sessions are held at Calumet County Department of Health and Human Services office located at 2306 South Oneida Street, Appleton, WI 54915.
