Public Health Update: Coronavirus

Communicable Disease Alert: Novel Coronavirus in Wuhan, China

There is an ongoing outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus that can be spread from person to person. Cases have been identified in Wuhan, China and in travelers from Wuhan arriving in other parts of China and other countries, including the United States.

This novel coronavirus has the potential to cause severe disease and death. Preliminary information suggests that older adults and people with underlying health conditions may be at increased risk for severe disease from this virus.
